I have a 480GB SSD in a FW800 enclosure which had I formatted with two partitions. I have recently tried to reformat into one partition of 480GB - somewhere along the way i have managed to make an error in that when in Disk Utility / Partition whilst size is listed at 480.1GB and Free Space is indicated at 479GB the partition size is only 452MB thats MB not GB!

If in Disk Utility / Partition / Partition Information i then change the size to 479GB from 452MB i obtain the message “Operation Failed - Th requested size change for the target disc or a related disk is too small etc.

I have included a screen shot.

I would appreciate any help that will enable me to restore my SSD to 480GB

Thanks

I moved your thread for you.

Click on Show all devices like in my screenshot then select the drive itself at the top of the tree (asmedia in my case) then go to the erase tab and erase the whole disk. That will set it back to one volume filling the drive.

Erase it (re-initialize to ONE partition, HFS+ with journaling enabled) and start over...
