eSATA card for MBP for external hard drive. Please HELP! :/

Hi all! Can someone please help because I know nothing about eSATA, except that it's not the same Plug'n'Play type interface as USB 2 and FireWire 400/800 are. Or can I just get any one of them and be fine?

I've got an eSATA cable and an external hard drive from Hitachi with the eSATA interface, but I still need to find a card for the Express 34 slot that's found on the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 17" MacBook Pro's, or any previous MBP with an eSATA interface.

I use this card from OWC for eSATA.

It works fine with turning the external drive on after the machine is booted, and I also can boot from it fine.
