Running 10.6.8 on a 2009 5,1 (upgraded from 4,1). I have noticed that eSATA drives in a Sans Digital enclosure do not appear in Disk Utility nor on the desktop when I power the unit up. They will show up if I reboot. Any help in identifying problem appreciated.
Edit- After rebooting, un-mounting drives and cycling the power in the eSATA enclosure the drives mount automatically. So things are apparently back to normal until the problem manifests again, which it periodically has done. Why do these drives become invisible to the system? Either the enclosure/card combo or the system itself get into a state in which communication between them breaks down. Any ideas as to why? Perhaps a memory leak in the driver?
