Apps ESPN App not updating

I have the ESPN app set up as the bottom complication on one of my watch faces. My goal is to be able to see game scores update without having to take out my phone, but it doesn't seem like the watch app is smart enough to update on it's own. It always shows the same score as the last time that I opened the ESPN app on my phone. (Today it showed a football game from almost a month ago). Does anyone know of a way to make this auto update more regularly? I don't see any settings in the Apple Watch app to do do. Or alternatively, another app that would do the same thing? Thanks in advance,
