ESPN Apple Watch app doesn't work

I have more issues with the ESPN app on my watch losing the sync. I just get a prompt that tells me to login to the ESPN phone app. I have done this several times. I have removed the app from my watch and reloaded it. I have deleted it from my phone and reinstalled it, nothing works.

I always get a message that says I need to sign into my phone app.

And when it does sync, it barely updates without me opening the app on my watch.

Anyone have any advice or assistance?

I am also having issues with the app updating in the background...

These issues started with watchOS 4.1

I have deleted music from my watch (music on the watch killed 3rd party apps back in watchOS 2), installed/reinstalled ESPN on my phone/watch...

I even erased and set up the watch as new.

Nothing seems to work.
