I've finally got around to buying a 250GB External LaCie HD d2 and setting it up just now!!!

For now I have just copied over (using Finder) my entire "Documents" ,"Music" , "Pictures", 'Movies' folder to LaCie. I'm sure I need to back up some preferences and other essential, crucial stuff that I need if my iBook dies (God forbid!!).. Any advice on what else I need to be backing up is much appreciated.

Also, do I need to use the SilverKeeper backup software that comes with the HD or is copying via Finder just as good?

Thanks!! :)

Hi dscan99,

Since you have a nice big external drive, you might as well copy everything!

It will make restoring data if you have a "disaster" that much easier.

Check out Carbon Copy Cloner. It has everything you need to create a complete, bootable backup on your external hard drive.

Good luck!
