Hey guys,

I just purchased my 2.66 15" uMBP today and it's been a few months since I've owned a Mac and I forgot all of the old applications I had on it. I've currently downloaded Firefox and VLC but are there other apps that you can't simply do without? Also, is there a Mac application that can play FLAC music files?

VLC will play FLAC files. Listed below are some programs I use on a daily basis :

Safari
iTunes
Skype
Evernote
Photoshop
Aperture
After Effects
uTorrent ( for legal torrents of course :) )
truecrypt
handbrake

You can use XLD and xACT for flac conversion. or just play them with VLC or songbird (the firefox of itunes)

some apps i like that arent always on these lists...

Adium
Last.fm
xSlimmer
xACT
XLD
Filezilla
iDefrag
LittleSnitch
Cleanapp
A better Finder rename 8

and install perian just to get the quicktime codecs.

Duff-Man says...if you want to play flac (and other files like shn etc) without converting you can give COG a spin..free and works really well....oh yeah!
