Estimated Video Encoding Speed?

I am a newbie here.
I am currently putting movies from camcorder to DVD using imovie/idvd.
My machine is a G4 Quicksilver 867mhz, 1.5gb ram.
Encoding takes hours.
What kind of encoding speed increase can I expect if I use a MacPro 2.66ghz quad, 2gb ram?

Minutes instead of hours.Generally.

Using a 867 MHz G4 to encode is painful.

Even a Mac mini would run circles around it.

It has been a while since I have used iDVD but you can expect a massive speed increase.
