Hi All -

I noticed today when I was working on a new Mac that the /etc/hostconfig file is headed with a line:
#This file is going away

...since it seems many DHCP servers are set up poorly and this results in getting a new (incorrect) hostname quite often, I've used this file in the past to fix the hostname by adding:
HOSTNAME=SomeName

This still works, but since this file is going away - does anyone know the "correct" new way to do the various things you used to be able to do in this file? Since it still works I'm not having any particular problems, but I'm curious what the correct way is and I want to be ready for when this file finally does go away.

Is use of 'scutil' the correct ultimate replacement?

Thanks!
