I'm about to buy a 3g iphone, and had a quick question.

I am not available for an upgrade because i signed a new 2 year contract in march. Instead of paying $399 for a 8gb at the non-upgradable cost, couldn't i save 25 bucks by paying the $175 ETF and then buying an 8gb for 199 dollars?

Would that mean i would loose my phone number though?

thanks for the help!

New contract includes a $30 activation fee. Cancel-recreate costs you $5 more. AT&T isn't stupid.

What about the ETF being prorated, meaning i could get 20 more bucks off for 4 months at 5 dollars a month.

If i buy an iphone for 399, i dont have to pay the activation fee?

Do you have a 1st Gen iPhone on your account? If so you qualify for the discounted price.

paying the WTF may still not qualify you for the discount pricing. Most compaines have a waiting period in which your old account can be reactivated. You may have to wait several months before your account is erased.

ahh, thanks for clearing that up, i appreciate it!

Legislation just ruled the EFT illegal. I'm sure there will be appeals but when is it final? I had 3 weeks left on Verizon when I bought the iPhone on June 29 and porting the number forced me to pay $175 immediately!

What legislation?
