I plug in my Ethernet cord and the in the network settings it isn't even recognized. I've tested the cord and it works with other computers. I can't get a wireless router because I'm on a campus.

Any software tricks that you guys might know of?

Just to cover all the bases, you did use the same ethernet jack with the other computers correct? Have you tried restarting your system?

Is it still covered under warranty or Apple Care?

If you're out of warranty you might want to get the usb ethernet adapter that's made for the Macbook Air; it should work for your Macbook too.

No warranty or apple care and yeah I covered all the bases.

Are you sure the university doesn't require registered MAC addresses? Our U does this so that Joe Blow can't simply connect to the network. I'm highly suspect that your ethernet port is dead.

Good call, that also might be as universities are picky.

Unless of course, it USED to work and now it stopped. :p

I have read a few posts here with the ethernet port going bad. Let's hope it is not.

Yes, Ive been on campus for a months and it has worked up until now. The Campus has my Mac Address. Thanks though.

To the OP,

Have you tried:
1. SMC reset
2. PRAM reset
3. SAFE BOOT
4. Deleting your cache files (there is a hardware cache file) using OnyX or another utility.

This may fix your ethernet port if it is not a hardware problem.

I Havent tried the Ethernet in about 2 weeks, but last i remember it would recognise, but just wouldnt connect, at all.

Yes that works. I have 2 adapters, one on my MBP and another on my Windows machine.
