Hi all,

I have an ~2.5 year old MacBook that I use as a desktop machine, so have ethernet, monitor, bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected to it. I have developed a problem since last night, it keeps losing the ethernet connection.

Here is the basics of the network...

Downstairs I have an Actiontec router that gets its connection via FiOS. I have a Mac Mini and an Airport Extreme connected to this Actiontec. Upstairs I have another Actiontec connected in bridge mode via Coax. The MacBook, an AppleTV, and a second Airport Extreme are connected via ethernet to this Actiontec. I should mention that both AEs are setup in bridge mode.

So, this morning when I woke up the MacBook was awake but had no internet connection. The connection was live between the MacBook and the Actiontec. I had to reboot to get the Internet connection back.

I was just VNCed into the MacBook to check a couple of things and now I cannot get connected to it again. I can VNC into the Mini and I can see that the MacBook is no longer online, so it must have lost its ethernet connection again.

Now, I thought maybe it is bridged the Actiontec that has the problem, but I can still see the AppleTV and AE that are connected to it, so that can't be the problem.

The only common thing I can find is that I had Handbrake running last night and this morning, but I don't see how that would break my ethernet connectivity.

Anybody have any similar issues? I really don't want to do an OS reinstall, but at this point I'm not sure if an alternative.
