My Mac is connected with ethernet to the FIOS router (actually a USB-C to ethernet connection). When I started Safari just now it says I wasn't connected to the internet. I just disconnected the USB-C cable and when I reinserted it all was well. However, checking the Network system preference it's showing the connection as "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" with what I think is the usual double arrow with dots in-between ethernet symbol. I'm fairly sure that previously the connection was named ethernet.

Why did the name for the connection change and does it matter?
