Ethernet Connection Questions

First, is there a way to have a network connection symbol at the top like I have with Airport?

Second, why does it take longer to connect to the network compared to airport? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

It "should" be a bit faster to establish a wired connection but it can depend on the network you are connecting to.

If your network interface is configured to get the IP config from DHCP it can take longer than when it has satic ip.

Hi there,

Sounds to me like there may be some interference in your line. May be worth having a go at it through someone elses line.

I don't believe it's possible to have an ethernet logo shown in your toolbar. You can put mobile broadband dongle connections in there, and Airport, yet for some reason you're not allowed to put ethernet up. Sorry
