Does anyone know about the compatibility of expresscard/34 gigabit ethernet cards with Mac OS X in a MacBook Pro?

I know Small Tree makes one explicitly 'for Mac', but it's ridiculously expensive compared to a run-of-the-mill card on newegg or whatever. Are the chipsets just standard and recognized, or is small tree's model somehow special? I don't see a driver for it on their website, which leads me to believe it would simply be recognized by Mac OS X.

Has anyone used an ethernet card in their MBP?
