ethernet network

I am trying to create ethernet networks for the purpose of sharing files between Macs with different OS : (1) iMac with OS 10.9.5, (2) Power Mac G4 with OS 10.4.11, and Power Mac 6500 with OS 8.6. Using Appleshare, I have no problem creating an ethernet network between PM G4 and PM 6500. But have problem creating one between iMac and PM 6500. I have not tried between iMac and PM G4 yet. Any idea?
