So when I have my MBP on the desk, I use ethernet cable for faster connection and today, it would not connect. I already made sure the service was active. Reset the pram, rebooted both the computer and modem/time capsule. Still doesn't work. So I went to about this mac, more info and went to system reports, hardware, ethernet cards and it says "This computer does not appear to have any PCI Ethernet cards installed.".

Any ideas?

I have seen this happen a couple times and each time it ended up being the logic board. You could try a fresh install though.

If you have a USB drive I would install os x to that and boot of it just to give it a shot.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.
