I just moved into my college apartment today and my wired connection to my PowerBook is incredibly slow. I have a connection and can see other computers on the local network... However, the internet connection is so slow, it's practically unbearable. My friend's HP laptop is running just fine.
Do you have any suggestions before I call the school's tech support tomorrow? I'm fine with changing settings here and there, if that's what it takes.
I hate to bump threads, but I found another symptom. It seems my download speed is fine. I downloaded the most recent iPhoto update and it was extremely quick. So why is my download speed for files okay, but surfing so slow?
Oh and I'm bringing my Mac to the tech help desk tomorrow. They said they'd take a look at it. I'd love to find an answer before then, but I don't see that happening. Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Got it working! Tech help gave me a manual DNS address, so it's all good. Thanks for the help.
