Something very random happened today. I was playing a little bit of DayZ on my computer and then got off, it went to sleep and around 2 hours later I returned to check my emails. Only problem was that the ethernet Icon in my Windows 7's tray on the task bar has a red X on it.

The first thing I tried was resetting my router. that didn't work. I then switched ethernet cables. that also didn't work. Then I tried plugging it directly into my modem. that also didn't work. I restarted the computer. As you can probably guess that didn't work.

The only indication of my ethernet port even working is an orange solid light and a yellow blinking light. I'm hoping my ethernet port is not dead as I don't really feel like getting a new motherboard. It's clearly seeing some kind of a connection or something because the lights that are on. I thought maybe it could just be a driver issue but there's no unknown devices in my device manager on Windows 7. The only thing that is unknown is an SMB controller or something like that but that shouldn't have to do with anything as It's been unknown since I reinstalled Windows 7 a few weeks ago.

I really hope someone has a solution to this other than replacing the board. I can always trying to Ubuntu install or reinstall Windows 7 as I have everything backed up, but I really don't feel tackling that right now.
