Ethernet ports won't work on AirPort Extreme

I just hooked up a new airport extreme to my cable modem. I ran the setup and wireless works fine but none of the wired connections are working. In the Airport Utility I set it up as a wireless network. Is there something I'm missing here? I can't believe my crappy linksys was easier to get running than this. Thanks in advance if anyone has a clue.

Figured it out. First of all I was testing the ethernet with my slingbox. The slingbox needed to be reset.

Also, if you are using a network switch, don't use the ethernet port that is next to the uplink on the switch.

That shouldn't have made any difference.
