All, I have a problem with my ethernet connection. It connects to the internet okay but stops loading data after visiting a couple of sites, just looks for the address like it is not connected. In system preferences:network, it says that ethernet is connected and has an ip address. I can run terminal and ping sites with no problem. I thought it may be firefox, but safari is the same, connect for a few pages, then it stops. I tested airport, it is fine, I also created a new account to see if the problem was user specific, still does not work.
The only thing I can think of apart from ethernet being broken is that I created a network for my iphone to share and use the ethernet connection, this was working well until this problem cropped up. I also updated to 10.5 last week, so I restored to 10.4 using time machine but still the problem remains.
I am on a network at work, I hope this is a network administrator problem rather than the ethernet in my computer. Does anyone have anything similar to report? Thanks
