Ethernet via monitor

I have a hp Z27k G3 monitor that includes an ethernet port.
I was hoping to use this to allow wired ethernet on my Macbook pro M1pro base model.
So far I cant seem to get it working.

Can anybody offer any advice?

After a little searching I answered my own question so posting here in case it is useful for for others.
Unplug USB C delete unused wired internet configurations in network pane of preferences.
Apply settings, plug USB C back in. Wired connection recognised.
All good.
