My title pretty much sums it up. I'm this close to pulling the trigger on them from Amazon. I had the Shure E2c for a while, but they broke (twice!), and they were never stunningly great.

Is the Etymotic ER-4P worth the money, or will I regret the purchase? I have a lot of classical in Apple Lossless, and most of my non-lossless music (a little rock, etc) is at least 256kbps AAC.

I just got the ER-4P and the sound is great. They do go quite far into your ear, so you have to be comfortable with that. I've listened to a little Jazz (Supersilent), a little classical (Schostacovich), and a little electronic (Pan Sonic, Ryoji Ikeda) and they all are very detailed with a good sound stage even with my lower quality MP3s.

If you get them and aren't happy with the sound quality you can always get a little portable amp which will give you an even fuller sound stage.

So far (5 hours) I give them a thumbs up!
