I have my Eufy Homebase 3 and Indoor Cam E30 fully setup on the Eufy app. All I want to do is record to Apple HomeKit HKSV as I have iCloud+

I have successfully added the Homebase 3 as a bridge to Apple Home. I have connected my AppleTV as a bridge within Apple Home. When I open the Apple Home app, I just see the apple TV but I do not see the Eufy Homebase 3? But if I go into settings -> Home Hubs & Bridges, I see the Homebase.

How do I initiate the recording to Apple HomeKit HKSV?

Sounds like the E30 needs to be added to homekit via wifi directly, and not through the HomeBase.

You chose poorly going with ewwwfy. Their half baked/barely supported Homekit 'integration' has always been shaky at best.

Actually I’m happy with the video quality, AI detection, app/playback responsiveness and siren. Just doesn’t work properly with HomeKit

no big deal i guess

thanks for those links - wasn't aware. what security camera system do you recommend?

doing this 'right' with privacy and security at the forefront isnt a plug and play solution, unfortunately.

The best and most flexible way: integrate an IP camera system vlanned off from internet access to get 'CCTV-like' local streams with a dedicated NVR that also cannot access the outside.

this could be a hardware NVR, or software like blueiris or frigate. then pull the local video streams into homekit via home assistant or homebridge plugins that can route the streams to HKSV.

The easy way: native homekit cameras with HKSV support that do not require the manufacturer app.

ok - what native homekit cameras do you recommend?
I like Aqara and Eve, have used many others along the way (VocoLinc, Ewwfy, TP-Link, Logitech), but I do also take the approach to block these devices from the internet and only communicate on my LAN as an extra precaution/best practice.

This allows them to talk to the Homekit hub which can then route traffic out to iCloud for HKSV, but stops any phoning home or telemetry or potential for remote access into the camera itself.

I dont trust any of them.

Just an FYI in case you aren’t already aware… HKSV will only record detected events; it cannot/does not record 24/7. I get the impression you want to do the latter, but I could be wrong.

If you want 24/7 recording so you can look back at something that might have been missed, you’ll need to make sure the camera supports local recording in addition to HKSV. You then have to use their app to play back the non-HKSV recording. I know the Eufy cameras can do this, but I’m not sure about other HomeKit cameras…some do and some don’t.
