ever got this Stuffit error?

I went to expand a .rar file and got this error:

Sorry, Stuffit will not work without the Expander Engine. Please reinstall from the original installer.

Now, Im thinking of why this would happen as well as how I can fix it.

Last night I bought NAV 10 and ran my first virus scan since tiger came out. It found 4 trojan viruses in caches that it quarantined, and I subsequently trashed them. Couldn't think of why that would give me a problem with Stuffit, but that's the only thing I could think of.

All the time.. I right click and extract with something else, such as 'unrarx'

see thats the problem with stuffit, aside from being pretty buggy for me on a brand new pb, its the only compression and decompression app for most file package types on mac. are there any alternatives?

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is as comprehensive as Stuffit, but specific to RAR files:

I find myself dealing less and less with Stuffit in general. It would seem that the preferred method of distribution these days is .dmg, .tar.gz, or .zip.

Sorry Drop zip will not work w/o stuffit engine original installer.

I'm on a mac.

What should I do?

The built in tools work well enough on most files but for anything else I use(d*) The Unarchiver

*Under Leopard I have found that everything I have needed to work has done but have it as a back just in case.
