Today we're tracking multiple record low prices across the M1 iPad Air on Amazon, with $150 off every configuration of these now-discontinued tablets. This comes just a few days after Apple announced the new M2 iPad Air, which start at $599.

What is the best buy for the current iPad models between the current and past generations of iPads for the regular user?

I was holding out for my iPad Mini 5 to be upgraded and that didn't happen so I have to choose with what's left to choose from. Thanks.

As an owner of 3 iPads (and immediate family has 3 more), I'd say M1 Air @ $449 is best value in the line up, now. You can certainly expect a lot of the 11" Magic Keyboards to come up on the used market.

The only caveat - if you do a lot of FaceTime, the landscape camera on the 10th gen @ $349 might make more sense.

The mini is scheduled to receive an update before the end of the year, so maybe you can wait until then. Otherwise the M1 iPad Airs on sale now are perfectly fine for the next few years for regular users.

Still a very good device in the higher configurations. I’m glad 128gb is the new base. 64gb was so stingy for a such a capable device. FaceTime at the top in landscape alone would steer me to the M2 models however.

Just wait a ~month for the annual (Apple) college promo. Probably get an M2 for same price counting the bonuses as cash. (Nevermind stock pile some apple gift cards at the next (frequently occurring) sale at a big box store (at least in the US) and get another 10-20% off.

Apple has been just as liberal with letting anyone get in on the college promo as MR is with "record low prices."

Record discount unless you consider the $399 deal for 64GB Starlight at Best Buy a week or so ago.
I jumped on that and plan to keep it considering the updates don't impact what I use it for very much.

The only thing that I don't like about my current M1 Air is that it only has 64 gigs of memory. It hasn't been a huge problem yet, but I'm tired of having to constantly delete things. That said, ugh. Upgrading just to have more storage just won't be happening. I just can't justify the expense for what I use this iPad for... I wasn't planning on putting a lot on here, but messages and photos and everything else just balloon out to these insane sizes.

Meanwhile Apple selling refurb 4th gen Airs (A14s) for $399. LOL. I got $300 Apple credit burning a hole in my pocket. Really want an M1 air and was hoping they'd show up on the refurb page at a reasonable price. Need something for simple tasks and streaming. Tempted just to get the 10th gen now but would really like the upgrade to nicer screen, lighter weight and chip with a longer future

Exactly - these things have been on sale for $449 before, and they've been lower. Not sure why it's saying these are record lows.

I’ve been considering getting one of the regular iPads for $349 then I saw this deal for the iPad Air M1.

Looking at the specs it seems like the main difference is the chip. I do some light gaming and watch a lot of video.

Is it better to take this deal or just get the regular base iPad?

The screen is laminated and stage manager is available. More ram too.

So when do the last gen Ipad Pros go on sale?

Shame on you Apple for selling a 5th gen Ipad Pro 13 at only $200 discount on the refurbished page.

If/when they start discounting the 10th gens similar to like they did with the 9th gens ($330>$250) then the 10th gen is going to be a hell of a deal. Several improvements for $20 more

I think if one is fine with just 64GB memory then the $449 M1 Air is a good deal. I don’t think the 256GB model is worth it unless you absolutely need the space as you can get the newer M2 for same price but with less storage (128GB). I don’t think the old pros will get discounted much. I think overall stock is pretty low and their MSRP is already $200 cheaper than the new models.
