Every time I Try to Encode Video, My Mac Crashes

Anytime that I either use iTunes, Handbrake, or Toast Titanium 8 to encode video to be playable on an iPod, my MacBook Pro crashes. the video can be as short as a music video, or TV Show, and as long as a feature film. I have 2GB RAM, and could always handle this kind of encoding before. Some of the thing I was trying to encode had been previously encoded on my MacBook Pro before. I have tried Archive & Install, then completely Erasing & Installing, but the problem continued. Does anyone have any ideas for me to fix this?

oh my, why people do re-installation of OSX so lightly? It should be always the last resort, not first.

Anyway, if your erase and install doesn't work, goto applestore or call apple care, its unlikely a software issue anymore, my guess.

was last resort, made sure I backed up everything, tried using other programs, reinstalled programs, etc. I will try calling to see if they know what to do....
