My computer is a new Macbook Air that came with Yosemite.
This is a question related to a third-party software I am using (SugarSync, a file backup program). A little background here: I initially installed the latest version (V3) of the software in my Mac (which was working fine for the purposes of this discussion). Then I decided to revert to an older version (V2) of the program (because of functionality issues) by downloading the older version from their website (The older version (V2) is working fine in my other Mac (MBP) that runs on Mavericks).
I first removed V3 from my computer and then installed V2.
The problem is that now each time I re-open the software (e.g., after quitting and restarting the program, or after rebooting the computer), I am asked to provide my Mac account password:
'Your computer account password is needed to complete the installation. Type your password to allow this'.
The box has a lock and the icon of the software in it.
After entering the password, the program starts normally, and works normally. But I have to go through the same thing next time I restart the program or computer.
Usually you do this only once when you first install the software. In my case, not only did I go through this step during the initial install, but also each time the program is started.
It sounds like the program was not 'completely' installed, and the installation has to be brought to completion each time I open the program.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, and the same problem persists. I also re-booted the computer, and the same problem persisted.
It may very well be the problem of the software (and I am contacting the software company). But I just wonder whether there is any setting in System Preferences I need to adjust, or whether you might have any insights here?
Thanks.
