Take a few days off to cool and think about it, that would be my biggest advice. That way your decision is not a pure emotional, but you can sit down and do a pros/cons list, and plan your move if you ultimately decide to do it.

oh im very rational about things. i cant just be as spontaneous as i would like to be seeing as i am married and have 3 kids, one of them only a few months old :)

so obviously i need employment, with benefits lol. being an adult with responsibilities sucks sometimes.

Aaah, then I guess you better be talking to your wife about it :)

As long as any move is planned, I think it will go smooth. If you guys really want to start somewhere else, start planning! :D

Best thing to do is try and handle it patiently. Packing up and moving can be good or bad, all depends on how, why, etc.

Sounds cliché, but making a pros and cons list usually works well for me, particularly with many pack up and moves I've done. :) And I'd definitely involve your wife throughout the entire process.

Do some research about the locations you are thinking of moving to as well. Locale is just as or more important than the job, IMO.

I do all the time and will at the earliest opportunity. Abroad too. I ain't staying here (UK).

My 3 probable destinations are Spain, South of France or Florida. :)

Two of those three are on my list of possible destinations, too. I've probably ruled out the USA, especially if McCain wins.

I'm part Spanish and am attracted to the outskirts of Barcelona. South of France would be nice, too. Neither are very far from the UK if you have family.

Some others I've thought of are Germany, Australia, Japan and a few other places.

If Noway, Denmark and Sweden weren't so cold I'd think about those, too.
