im always poking around the apple store for 27" imacs. I gave up on the idea that a 24" ACD would pop up in the refurb store a long time ago.

Last February,I was able to find a 24" refurb after a lot of refreshing and waiting, but they have been out of stock forever. Lo and behold today one popped up, and I snatched it up ASAP. These things are the best. That is all.

These are selling for $700-800 on eBay. For anyone that's been looking for one with a warranty obviously $599 from apple is a fantastic deal. So hell yeah a new thread is warranted. :D

Except it's not "everybody's favorite" ACD. Like many, I haven't been interested in ACDs since they discontinued the 30". While many like the new glossy screens, I wouldn't buy a display with a glossy screen.

Wrong, the thread has had little interest

A waste of time and resources

I would have bought one if I hadn't been too late. So it was good info and I wish I had seen it earlier.

Oh, and they did sell out immediately.

But yes, we had better conserve those bytes before they run out.

If you could pick up a 27" non-thunderbolt cinema display for $600, would you do it?

That's true, although the 24" size is more appealing to many people over the 27".

But all that shinny, mirror like glass on any display 24 to 30" is too much. Sure, if you're under perfect lighting conditions it's great. I just moved into a new office were three of the walls are glass and out went the ACD's. There's no way anyone can see the screen under those conditions ... turned me into being 'anti-glossy displays' real fast :)

Yeah that would be a good deal if there is still some Apple warranty left or possiblity to add applecare. As it is though those are about $900...So $300 difference from the 24" ACD.

Apple refurbs rock and an Apple warranty is something I really value, hence the reason I have refurb 24" ACDs at work and at home.
