Apple today launched its single gift card for all things Apple in several European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and more.

The card can be used at the App Store and other online services, but it can also be used to buy products and accessories in the Apple Store.

Apple launched the gift card in 2020 for U.S. customers, and last year expanded its availability to Canada and Australia. Dutch blog iCulture.nl spotted the card's new availability in Europe.

Before the single gift card arrived, there were two separate Apple gift cards available: iTunes cards, which can be used for ‌App Store‌, iTunes Store, and iCloud storage purchases, and ‌Apple Store‌ gift cards, used for buying goods at Apple's online and brick-and-mortar retail stores.

Apple has a dedicated page on its regional websites explaining what the card does and how it can be used. "Products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, ‌iCloud‌, and more. This gift card does it all. And then some," reads the tagline.

Customers can decide what amount they want on the cards, which can also be used to add money directly into an Apple Account Balance for paying for things like Apple products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, and more.

The cards have a distinctive design, with colored Apple logos. There are a total of five designs, and the cards can be purchased, personalized and received via email using Apple's online purchase portal.

I've got the same question (but I have the Apple store (HW) gift card. I've got like $5 left, so I'd love to be able to use this at the app store instead!

The ghettoization of the Apple Store in Europe, confining individual Stores to individual countries, even where there is a common currency, makes this less useful. "Back to School" is a case in point: many students study away from their home country.

Probably due to VAT being different in different places? Students studying at another country can use that store's Back to School program, no?

It would be great if I could pay for a BTO Mac with these cards, here Apple only accepts VISA and a goed Mac is over my limit.

If I add a gift card to my Apple Account, then can I only use it tu buy on the App Store or can I still use it for purchases on apple.com and retail Apple Stores?

My iTunes/AppStore balance is now showing as available for use against an Apple Store purchase.

Guess this is the end of discounted iTunes gift cards!

I would rather Apple work on being able to merge my two Apple ID's before they confuse it any further. If I want to add funds, it opens the Apple ID associated with the App Store. Yet all my hardware and iCloud is under my second Apple ID, If I then purchase hardware from Apple that would then mean due to auto enrol I would have hardware over two ID's. The truth is Apple ID's have been a mess for a long time, if you can authorise devices to play your purchased content why is this so hard.

They should, if Apple transitions it the same way they did in the US.

Apple Gift cards are amazing since you find them on sale for a discount.

When I bought my M1 MBA, Target had this promo where I get a free $20 gift card for every $100 I spend on an Apple gift card. That includes a 5% discount since I have Redcard. I ended up getting 5% off for the MBA, as well as a $400 free Target gift card. I used that $400 to buy two Apple Watch SE's for my parents.

It’s not ghettoization.

It’s balkanization.

Regardless, I fully agree with your larger point. It’s hardly a true common market with things like this still happening.

When Australia transitioned to it; yes they did.

itunes & app store cards became everything apple cards and could be spent on an iPhone.

Considering that Australia used to discount itunes cards pretty regularly; it was a big boon for those that had them stockpiled.

Unfortunately after the cutover; they don't discount the new everything apple card :(
10%, 15%, 20% discounts on itunes cards used to be common; but they don't exist anymore. So while this seems like a good thing at first; its not as great in the long run if you're the type that usually takes advantage of the sales.

Has anyone in the new rollout countries managed to add the apple account card to wallet? I'm not sure if this requires a change on the server side, or iOS 15.6.

It's not showing as an option for me, when I press + in the wallet app.
