Everything fades to grayscale in external monitor during video playback

Hi,

I just noticed that when I have an unfocused video playing in my external monitor (not full screen), everything besides the video window in the external monitor fades to grayscale in like 10 seconds after I click on other app (besides the video window).

This happens in all video playback apps I tried .. iTunes U, Quicktime, VLC, Elmedia ....

I'm on macOS Sierra 10.12.3 with MacBook Pro Early 2011
