Hi all,

I have just now upgraded the Storage on my MacBook Pro to a 480GB SSD. I copied everything other using the built in Time Machine. Now when I go to the System Preferences pane and Storage everything is classed as 'Other' (see attached screenshot).

Obviously it could be worse, it could have all gone missing but it's nice to know where I stand with my music/movie storage etc. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it would be doing this?

It may also be worth noting that before I ran Time Machine, it displayed everything as 'Other' but it's the first time it has done it since I have had my MacBook Pro back in early 2011.

I have actually just noticed that it seems to be slowly rising, so I'm guessing that OS X is scanning the drive to find out exactly what the contents are? Would that be correct?

Yes... that info comes from the Spotlight index. When you install a new drive it has to reindex. Wait until the reindex is finished and the numbers should be accurate.
