I had a reservation at 10:30am for an in-store pickup of an iPhone 6s Plus, paid for with the AUP.
Depending on where you live, expect the following:
a) 1+ hour wait in line for reservations (in SF, the line was almost around the entire block)
b) Even if you're an authorized user (at least on T-Mobile), make sure you know the last 4 of the primary holders SSN
c) When they ask for your phone number and SSN (at least on T-Mobile), enter the last 4 of the primary holders SSN
d) The phone is activated in the box, without it being removed. The phone in your pocket will no longer work
e) Your new phone may require a reset to register the updated SIM
I didn't have any problems with credit - I was told it was a soft pull - I'll wait to see what Credit Karma says.
The overall process is pretty painful right now. If the dude from T-Mobile wasn't in the Apple Store with a laptop connected directly to T-Mobile, I don't think most of the Apple employees would know what to do.
Also, you will get conflicting information. I asked if I could use my T-Mobile SIM, but purchase an ATT phone using the AUP. I was told all the unlocked phones are exactly the same. I mentioned the extra band on the ATT devices, and they repeated that all unlocked phones through the AUP are exactly the same.
Good luck, and go in with 'Best Buy' expectations as far as speed/knowledge/service.
