Everytime I install an application on OS X, it puts a HD icon on my desktop with the application's name under it. When I click the icon, it brings up that window where you drag and drop the icon of the application to the dockbar... how can I get rid of these icons? I cannot drag them to trash bin. Thanks!

Now I understood why they are there, but I am still confused as to how to remove them? Or can I not as long as I use the program?

edit: Actually, I think I do now.... :) Thanks!

Just drag the hard drive icon to the trash.

Drag the files out of it and then drag the image to the trash.

I usually drag the launch icon to my applications folder, and if there are any other files I want to keep, I put those in a folder I created called "downloads" uner my user account.
