Just setup a network camera for fun. I've been playing with both EvoCam and SecuritySpy to monitor it. It took a minute to get used to EvoCam's "canvas" approach, but now I get it.

Which do you prefer and why?

I haven't tried SecuritySpy. I liked EvoCam when I tried it because it worked as advertised and because Evological was friendly about answering questions.

I tried Security Spy and Evocam and found it a difficult choice.

I went with Evocam, which I've used for more than a year. It had a recent improvement to its server that allows viewing images on an iPhone.

The documentation is not great, but the support is "nice" as mentioned above.

Evocam monitors 5 cameras for us. Two panasonics, two Sharx, and a Trendnet. Primarily it allows for web viewing and time lapse recording. It has been stable.
