Excel 2011 crashing on MBA

I have just bought my wife the 13" MBA with the 2.13 processor and 4gb of ram. She is having a major issue with Excel crashing constantly, it is happening within seconds or minutes meaning productivity is virtual imposible.

Anyone else having this problem or even a solution.
