I cannot get excel to format negative accounting numbers as ($100).
I used to have this option - but has disappeared from the format dialog.
I tried switching Languages and Region from Canada to US and back and restart.
But no luck.
Google no help - driving me crazy

Any ideas for a fix anyone?

You're going crazy, but you're not nuts...

MS seems to have fscked up more than a few long-standing things in its Mac-version office suite. One of the more-recent updates removed the formatting options you're looking for. FWIW, try out the following two Custom Formatting options that will get you where you need to go for now - it's what I'm using. Just copy the following text and paste it into the formatting field. For negative results the first gets you black text, the second gets you red results:

$#,##0.00_);($#,##0.00)
or
$#,##0.00_);[Red]($#,##0.00)

Thanks campyguy
That is the solution.
Always surprised when basic features that have worked for 10+ years disappear.
