I've been using my 15" MBPr for some large spreadsheets and it is great, but I would rather not carry this one around all the time. I just sold my MBA 13" because the resolution was hindering my workflow. I wanted to get a Lenovo X1 carbon, but again, I really want something running 1920x1200 or 1920x1080. Can anyone with the MBPr running at 1650 comment on this? What if I used a program to force it to run 1920x1200- or would that just overheat the GPU (or lack thereof). Thanks.

I just run Excel at the 'Best for Retina' resolution

I actually run Excel at the 'Best for Retina display' 13 rmbp resolution and zoom the spreadsheet to between 76% and 80%. 76% zoom is approximately equivalent to a 1680x1050 desktop, while 66% is close to 1920x1200. You do lose some real estate because the top tool bar remains large, but the actual cell text is a bit sharper. Not sure if this would work for you.
