since switching to Mavericks (10.9.1) on my MBP I have a problem with every Excel (2008 for Mac, 12.3.6) doc I place in the dock. When I open it out of at the dock, it has a new name, that is it has a new number at the end of the name so I cannot "save" it. Have to "save as" which is a pain and defeats the purpose of being in the dock. Any ideas? Thanks

Here's a work around.
Either create a stack from the folder the files are in, or from a folder containing aliases to the files.

Mavericks has a similar bug with Entourage, where if you launch it directly from the dock it opens a new email. While if you launch it from a stack in the dock it doesn't.
