When I use the file open function in Excel 2011, the window is always tiny and has to be resized.
How do I permanently resize the file open window? The same applies to Word, Powerpoint, and some other applications.

Thanks in advance.

Resize the window to the desired size. Now, hold down the Option key and click on the red close button.
Open the window and it should remember the correct size.

Thanks for the input, however, when using the "File Open" function in Excel, there is no red close button.

Try Option-Cancel; I don't have 2011 but it works in 2016 so give it a try.

Edit: Actually, it looks like I spoke too soon. 2016 remembers the size even without Option.

I did try that and it doesn't work.
