I've got an Excel file which I haven't opened for at least 5 years and I there's no way I can remember the password to open it. Tried all my usual passwords with no luck and Numbers won't open it either.

Anyone know how to recover or bypass the password, please?

As this is a Mac forum, I assumed people would realise it was an Excel file from Office for Mac.

I'm curious why you should give links to Google searches that offer exclusively PC solutions.

Of course I looked on Google.

Erm, they were trying to help. Dont assume anything, it will get you nowhere. You should have said it was on office for mac, giving as many details as possible instead of leaving people here (who are trying to help) guessing.

1. Excel files can be used on both Mac and Windows.
2. Many in this forum run Windows on their Mac.
3. I didn't assume anything, which is why I posted two searches, with and without "Mac".

4. Did you even take the time to look at the 2nd link?

5. Many ask questions that have answers easily found with Google, who never searched. Again, I didn't assume. That's why I asked.
6. If you want help, it's not the best approach to criticize those who try to help.

OK Sorry - didn't mean to offend. I just assumed that people visiting this site would all be Mac owners and therefor very intelligent and therefore would have done a lot of searching before bothering people here.

as I am SUPER intelligent I don't run Windows on any of my Macs. I mean, why would I put a Lada engine in an Aston Martin?? :)

Back to my problem - anyone?

You would think wrong, many people here post before searching.

Did you look at what GGJstudios provided?
