Now I'm sure this has been touched on before, so I apologize ahead of time. I tried searching on this forum with no results.

Can the iPhone view and/or manipulate excel sheets and word documents? I remember hearing that it can do powerpoint, but is that it? If it doesn't support these documents, is there a hack for them?

thanks!

The iPhone can view Word, Excel, Powerpoint, documents from the iWork suite (pages, keynote, numbers), PDF files, attached html files, as well as image files (jpg, tiff, png, gif).

It'll also do the Office 2007/2008 formats (xlsx, docx, pptx).

You can view, but not manipulate these files.

It can view excel, word, and powerpoint.. but you cannot manipulate any of them..

Thanks for the quick replies.

Are there currently any popular store apps for manipulation, or is that still a gray area?

No apps for manipulation yet that I know of. Either on the app store or jailbreaking.
