My wife's iPhone seems to be suffering from incredibly high data usage after updating to iOS 11. Her monthly usage has been about 3GB for the past six months, slowly creeping up a bit as she's started to use Apple Music more.
Last month she ran out of data a few days before her billing period ended and so we got a bolt-on and changed her contract so that she now has 7GB - which should be more than enough. Today, she ran out of data. She'd only used half of her bolt on top up data last month so she's managed to burn through about 8.5 GB in a week when she's hardly used it.
We're going to have to get her a data top up to keep her going for the rest of the month but something has to be wrong with her phone. The only thing that has changed is that she updated to iOS 11 last weekend. For the first few days, her battery drained really quickly but that has since stopped and it's gone back to normal (both her phone and her work phone drained battery really fast in the days after she updated). I don't know if there was some rogue process or some iCloud backup sync that destroyed her data too, it just seems odd.
The mobile data info page isn't particularly helpful as it shows the current period as being 57.9GB which I don't think has ever reset since she first got an iPhone like a decade ago.
Is there anything that iOS 11 introduced that I should look out for or disable so that she doesn't lose all her data again? She just uses Apple Music in the car on her way to and from work and on her run on the weekend with Runkeeper, email (exchange and gmail), Safari and a little bit of Facebook.
