Exchange 2001 & Lion?

Hi there.

I recently upgraded to Lion and am wondering if there is an email client available for Lion that will let me access my work's Exchange 2001 server?

Currently using Outlook 2011 for email - which doesn't support 2001...

I seriously doubt there is anything that will connect to that really old Exchange version.

Maybe someone know of a hack that can be done, but I wouldn't hold my breath for one.

I agree no 2001 exchange- Either 2003 or 2000

Entrouge 2008 won't run onLion- no powerPC support.

The only option you have is to have your sys admin enable IMAP on the exchange server. This won't work with iCal or contacts but will get your mail setup. Most sys admins won't enable Imap for security reasons

You are right - there is no such thing as Exchange 2001 (the first guy I spoke to must have been out of the loop...)... I made a few more calls and came to learn that they use:
1. Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V clusters
2. Virtual Server 2005 R2 clusters

Should Outlook 2011 for Mac be able to connect to this?

I reloaded Entourage 2008 - only for the work email - and it connects well.

You are confusing issues. Windows Server is a general server OS. Virtual Server is a server OS that allows a computer to run multiple server and client OSs. People who run Windows-oriented mail servers run Exchange Server. There is a divide among Exchange Servers that straddles Exchange Server 2007. Mail and Entourage EWS (Entourage 13)/Outlook 2011 (Outlook 14) have full access to Exchange Server 2007 and later. Entourage 2004 (Entourage 11) and Entourage 2008 (Entourage 12) have full access to earlier versions of Exchange Server.

Check that. Neither Entourage 2004, 2008, EWS, nor Outlook 2011 have full access to any version Exchange Server. The best that any of them can say is that they do is access Exchange Server at a deeper level than IMAP.
