Exchange emails stuck in outbox

Sometimes when I compose and send an email from my Exchange account, instead of sending it just sits in my Outbox. Several emails will pile up in my Outbox. If I quit Mail.app and restart it, the message go out.

This is very annoying and I'd like to know if anyone else has this issue and if you know how to solve it.

Do you receive or send your mails manually maybe, otherwise you may have to wait a couple minutes.

No, in fact most of the time I get an SMTP error message, and clicking Try Again sends it on through just fine. It's just really annoying!
