So as soon as I upgraded my 3GS to iOS4 I had Exchange problems.
Cannot connect to the server, email push not working, can't send mail, calendar updates not happening, etc.
Get my iPhone 4, same problem. Wife's phone the same way.
Apparently it is an ActiveSync issue however Google says they fixed their problem. Google uses ActiveSync just like Exchange.
Outlook identifies the Async as 8.2.254.0 and Exchange 2007. To get this right click on the Notification icon with the CONTROL key held down.
There are 3 major issues and this is the biggest one...the other two is the poor reception issue with iOS4, I've had more drops with it, and the light sensor.
I can live with those two, can't live without my email/calendar/contacts.
