I changed the password to my Gmail account recently. A while later, my phone asked me for my password. Despite having entered it multiple times, I stll got the error message. The password dialog box showed up in "Settings," "Phone" and "Contacts."

I found a fix, which saved me from having to restore my iPhone. What you have to do is:

1)Go to settings. If and when you see the dialog box, press "Cancel" at least 43 times.

2) Go to your Exchange account.

3) Enter your password in the "Password" field.

The device will verify the account information. If it's been verified, you've fixed it. Otherwise, you'll have to try another fix.

If you are using your Gmail account via Exchange, try allowing the Exchange connector to bypass the CAPTCHA.
