Exchange only working if I use outlook

Anyone else have this issue? I out in all my exchange server settings (which were working in mavericks) and the mail app says it can't connect to the server. So if I setup outlook (office 2011) to handle mail the mail app works! If I delete the outlook account mail app says it can't connect to their server. Anyone experience that one?
