Ok I came home with a brand new mbp and when I turned it on.. I only see a ?.

The harddrive seems to have crashed or I have a lemon on my hands.

Anyone else with this kind of problem?

I put the leopard disc in and guess what no hdd is picked up!?!

Going to go to the apple store tomarrow morning to get yet another exchange... =(

One would assume a $2000+ product works when it leaves the store ;) Sucks you have to go back again to get it exchanged...again. Ask for compensation for your time or something.

soon as i got in my car i opened mine up to make sure there were no dead pixels and everything booted ok

Haha. First thing I did was swap the RAM and reinstall OS X without iLife and the crap-load of drivers. I ordered the RAM 3 days before buying the machine and I don't use iLife; I use Final Cut, Aperture, Soundtrack, etc.

Well something could've happened during shipping and they're not going to open every single Mac to see if it boots, then repackage it, and ship the ones that are dead back to Apple.

Just got it exchanged and I paid the extra $500 for the 2.5Ghz model.

The overall speed isnt really noticable only when you open multiple programs then it doesnt freeze like on the 2.4Ghz but I just didnt want to take the chance since I had be luck with the 2.4Ghz and the 2.5Ghz mbp no dead/stuck pixels and looks great and works perfectly! =D

Last time I was in the Apple store and some customer, a unhappy one shouted to the service tech in the back "They should have called it Lemon not Apple!!"

So far I've had.....2 batts , HDD, and the optical drive pack it in. Owned it 18mos. Roughly a problem every 4.5 months.

So far so good! I'm so glad I got the 9c80 screen.. its so vivid and deep in colors!

One weird thing to note is that the mbp I just returned was a matte but surprisingly a glossy with a 9c81 was inside! But that 9c81 with a good color profile did look very nice but not nice as the 9c80 in matte! =D

So thats how many computers you've gone through in the space of 3/4 months?

Mac Pro 2.8 Quad> 17" Hi-Res MBP>MacBook 2.4>2x MBP 15" 2.4> MBP 15" 2.5

Your local Apple store must love you. I bet they say to themselves 'oh look its good ol JJ come to pay us a visit again'

Rock on dude.

Yawn.....
Please just stick with this machine..... I can't bear any more "exchanged for this vs that", and "this is so much better than that" stories.....

I've been through 10 in 2 months! No restocking fee of course 2 different apple stores, lol.

I'm sticking with this one.
